How to use the salt spray test box to test the coating

The salt spray test is a laboratory technique that places test samples and parts in a salt spray test box and keeps the electrolyte solution in a mist state under certain temperature and humidity conditions for cyclic corrosion.

1. The model substrate for the test must be thoroughly cleaned of rust and grease. Whether the substrate is sandblasted, sanded or phosphated, beware of exposure to humid air to prevent the formation of a water film on the surface of the substrate to cause rust or to reduce the adhesion between the coating and the substrate. In particular, it is strictly forbidden to touch the effective parts of the substrate with your fingers, because the grease and sweat on the fingers will stain the board surface, causing the coating to blister and rust.

Second, the key to the salt spray test is to prepare the concentration of the electrolyte solution. The solutes of various components must be weighed strictly in proportion to ensure the accuracy of the pH value. Otherwise, it will directly affect the test results.

3. The samples and parts after coating shall be edge-sealed with paint and cover the exposed parts of the substrate. Otherwise, it will cause rust sag and pollute the surface of the board, which will make it difficult to evaluate the grade.

4. When checking the board and parts regularly, the board surface should be kept in a moist state, and the time when the board surface is exposed to the air should be shortened as much as possible.
