How to evaluate the digital camera's pixels

Resolution and number of pixels are people's first concerns. Since KODAK introduced DC120 last year, the concept of "megapixel" has been deeply rooted in KODAK. It doesn't seem like a megapixel camera can do anything. Recently, the price of home digital cameras on the market has entered the era of "two million pixels." In fact, the number of pixels is of course important. A digital camera with a high number of pixels has a high resolution of the image sensor.

However, a digital camera with a high number of pixels is in the end. It is also related to the manufacturing level of the image sensor, the quality of the lens, and the image compression algorithm.

Soon after, it was found that the image quality of the KODAK DC120 was not as good as expected. It was found that the details of the photo image were fine but the stain was still serious. This shows that the CCD image sensor of this aircraft is not very ideal. Digital camera CCD image sensors are arranged in a matrix on a chip. It is not easy to create an average for each unit. The camera is also critical. The resolution of a digital camera is much lower than that of a conventional film system, and the resolution parameters of the lens are not high. However, if the lens distortion and glare parameters are too poor, the picture quality deteriorates in the case of backlight and high contrast.

In contrast, OLYMPUS's C-1000L is superior to KODAK DC120, DC200, and DC210 in terms of picture distortion, detail performance, color reproduction, and stain conditions. Although the former is only 780,000 pixels, the latter models are known as megapixels.

The final image quality that affects digital cameras is the level of sensor manufacturing, the optical characteristics of the lens, and the image compression algorithm.
