This guide will walk you through the correct way to hang the wet gauze to ensure accurate and stable humidity levels during your tests.

First, cut a piece of wet gauze to approximately 100 mm in length. This size ensures that it can properly cover the humidity sensor without being too large or cumbersome.

Next, make sure the gauze is fully soaked in water. Then, carefully place it over the humidity sensor. It's important to position the gauze so that it is in direct contact with the sensor. In some chambers, the sensor may be suspended or nested, so adjust accordingly to ensure proper coverage.

In the third step, position the gauze so that part of it is on the humidity sensor, while the remaining portion hangs down into a small container or sink. This allows the gauze to remain moist throughout the test, maintaining the accuracy of the humidity measurement.

Important Notes for Using Wet Bulb Gauze:

1. If you are performing a long-term temperature test, it’s recommended to remove the wet bulb gauze. Leaving it in during temperature-only tests may affect the results.

2. If the gauze becomes stiff or loses its ability to absorb water, replace it immediately. A poor-quality gauze can lead to incorrect humidity readings.

3. Most constant temperature and humidity chambers have two sensors: one for temperature and one for humidity. Always hang the wet gauze on the lower sensor, as this is typically the humidity sensor.

4. In case you don’t have wet gauze available, you can temporarily use damp tissue paper as an alternative. However, keep in mind that tissue paper may not provide the same level of accuracy or durability.

One common issue users encounter is the humidity reading showing 100%, which usually indicates that the wet bulb gauze is not properly positioned or is damaged. To avoid this problem, always check the placement of the gauze before starting your test. Ensuring the gauze is correctly hung and remains moist will help maintain stable and reliable humidity levels throughout the test.
