Domestic 3D printing patent disputes renewed: Taier era sued Weikong Ruibo

On September 14, 2015, Beijing Taier Times Technology Co., Ltd., a well-known 3D printer manufacturer, announced that it had filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Beijing Weikong Ruibo Technology Co., Ltd. in the Beijing Knowledge Industry Court. The company, known internationally for its desktop 3D printer brand UP!, claimed that Weikong Ruibo’s distribution and sale of the MakerBot Replicator 3D printer infringed on two of its technical patents. As a result, Taier Times sought an injunction to stop the defendant from continuing the infringement, including halting sales and imports of the disputed products, destroying them, and compensating for the economic losses incurred. Guo Ge, CEO of Taier Times, emphasized the company's strong stance on intellectual property protection. “As a technologically advanced 3D printing company, we are deeply committed to safeguarding our innovations,” he said. “We oppose any unfair practices that could hinder the healthy development of the global and Chinese 3D printing industry. Our legal action is aimed at maintaining a fair market environment and protecting our legitimate rights and interests.” Interestingly, this case comes amid ongoing legal battles involving Stratasys, the parent company of MakerBot. Stratasys has been involved in a patent dispute with Afinia in the U.S. for over a year. Notably, Afinia’s H series printers are OEM products of Taier Times in the U.S., adding another layer of complexity to the situation. The ongoing litigation between Stratasys and Afinia (effectively involving Taier Times) has drawn significant attention from the industry. If Stratasys wins, it could potentially dominate the FDM 3D printing market, which has led to widespread criticism within the sector. Many believe such actions could stifle innovation and competition. Some analysts suggest that Taier Times’ decision to take legal action in China may be a strategic move to pressure Stratasys. With China’s vast market of over 1.3 billion people, Taier Times might be using this as leverage to influence Stratasys' position in the U.S. lawsuit. How Stratasys will respond remains to be seen, but the implications of this case could be far-reaching for the entire 3D printing industry. China 3D Printing Network continues to monitor the developments closely, as this case could set a precedent for future patent disputes in the sector. (Editor)

RPET Shopping Bags

RPET Shopping Bags are environmentally friendly shopping containers made from recycled polyethylene terephthalate. They are a typical application of circular economy in the daily necessities field and have been favored by the market for their outstanding environmental protection value.

RPET raw materials are derived from recycled PET products such as mineral water bottles and beverage bottles, and are regenerated through processes like crushing, cleaning, and melt drawing. This process can reduce energy consumption by 80% and carbon emissions by 70%, significantly lowering resource waste compared to the production of virgin PET. For every one ton of RPET raw material produced, approximately 10,000 plastic bottles can be recycled, effectively addressing the "white pollution" caused by discarded PET products and achieving a closed-loop circulation from bottle to bag.

In terms of performance, RPET shopping bags are both durable and practical. The fabric has high strength and strong tear resistance, with a load-bearing capacity of 5 to 8 kilograms and can be reused over 100 times. The material has excellent moisture resistance and stability, and is not prone to deformation due to temperature changes. Moreover, after special treatment, it can have a certain degree of breathability, making it suitable for carrying various daily necessities. The surface is smooth and flat, easy to print, with strong adhesion of patterns and not prone to fading.

RPET shopping bags stand out in terms of environmental certification. Most of their products have passed the Global Recycling Standard (GRS) certification, and the entire process from raw material recycling, production to finished products is traceable, meeting the strict environmental protection requirements of regions such as Europe and America. Common styles include handbags, Tote Bags, folding bags, etc. After folding, they are small in size and convenient to carry around.

Due to its feature of "turning waste into treasure", RPET shopping bags have become an important carrier for brands to convey environmental protection concepts and are widely used in supermarkets, clothing brands, public welfare activities and other scenarios. It is not only a practical shopping tool, but also symbolizes a sustainable consumption lifestyle, promoting the development of the green industrial chain and contributing concrete strength to environmental protection.
