US uses corn to produce polyester lactic acid plastic

The American Corn Growers Association announced that it has succeeded in producing polyester lactic acid plastics from corn. Using this technique corn can be processed into thin or granular polymers.
Polymers made from corn can be made into fabric fibers. They can also be made into cups, bottles, food containers, wrappers or carpets. The American Corn Growers Association said that fabric made of polyester lactic acid has a silky texture and durability comparable to that of polyester. In addition, this new material is 100% biodegradable.
