In the heart of Abingdon, our compliance division recently paid a visit to the Riding for the Disabled charity group to deliver a generous £1,000 donation. The team had the privilege of meeting Ann, the inspiring chairperson, and Alice, who was busy leading an engaging riding session. It was a wonderful opportunity to witness firsthand the incredible impact this organization has on countless lives.
Established way back in 1975, the charity has been making waves ever since. Today, it offers unique therapeutic riding experiences to over 84 children and adults, providing not only physical benefits but also fostering social connections through activities, competitions, and even national holidays. These efforts significantly enhance the independence, self-assurance, and overall well-being of those involved.
The backbone of this remarkable initiative lies in its army of over 140 dedicated volunteers. Their unwavering commitment ensures that the charity can continue offering its invaluable services throughout the year. The charity caters to a wide range of disabilities, including learning difficulties, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, and various syndromes.
As you can see from the image below, the center serves as a vibrant hub of progress and friendship. However, despite its success, the charity faces significant financial challenges. With annual operational costs reaching £100,000, they are also fundraising for a new full-size indoor school, aiming to raise an additional £65,000 for this ambitious project. The new facility would provide a safe, weatherproof space, allowing them to accommodate more riders and offer specialized training, such as dressage for visually impaired participants. Additionally, it would enable more advanced riders to push their limits at higher speeds.
Reflecting on the visit, Managing Partner of our compliance division, Andy Fay, shared his thoughts:
"What struck us most during our visit was the sheer joy and positive transformation visible on the children's faces. From start to finish, they were beaming with happiness. Abingdon Riding for Disabled is truly an exceptional charity, and we're thrilled to contribute to their continued success in serving the local community."
We are incredibly proud to have played a part in supporting such a vital cause. Here's hoping our contribution helps this amazing charity continue its mission of hope and healing.
