With the improvement of people’s living standards and environmental protection awareness, the use of paper products such as paper boxes, cartons, paper bags, paper cups, paper trays, paper drums, paper cans, paper tubes, etc. has become increasingly widespread. In 1997, China reached 15.54 million tons of packaging paper and paperboard, ranking first in the six major packaging industries. The United States is the world’s largest consumer of paper and paperboard. In 1995 alone, the paper and paperboard consumption amounted to US$45.5 billion, accounting for 44.8% of the total US packaging consumption that year. Take a typical sales packaging container - folding carton, it is not only widely used in food, medicine, daily necessities, handicraft packaging, but also for the packaging of soft drinks, milk, detergents, cultural and educational supplies, hardware products. Take the United States as an example. In 1994, the annual output of folding cartons was 3.255 million tons, and the total sales volume was 4.925 billion US dollars. Since the folding cartons have low processing costs, are easy to store and transport, are easy to sell and display, are suitable for automated packaging, have good recycling, and are conducive to environmental protection, etc., worldwide, people's demand for folding cartons will increase. Will continue to increase.

On the basis of analyzing the characteristics of the carton structure, the design principle of the size of the folding carton is explained below, and the main functions and design methods of the carton CAD are introduced.
